Decommissioned in 2010, the Yang Shu Power Plant, situated on the western bank of the Huangpu River, was the first power plant built in China and is one of the oldest coal-fired power plants in the world. Our design for the plant’s redevelopment uses an aggressive adaptive reuse strategy to realize a net-zero mixed-use campus. The masterplan repurposes select facilities to serve as historical anchor points and icons of energy conversation.
The program includes office buildings, retail locations (street-front, podium, and kiosk), hotel, museum, exhibition centers, R&D facilities and labs, lecture and auditorium space, and a marina. We provided master planning, site planning, and integrated architecture and engineering design services.
