
Launches Community Service Initiative, “Day of Giving”
(SEATTLE, April 21, 2025) – The global integrated employee-owned design firm has shared the impact of its inaugural Day of Giving, a firm-wide community service initiative launched on April 1, 2025, in honor of the firm’s founding on April 1, 1966. The first annual Day of Giving invited 1,700 employee owners to spend a day of service in their local communities. During a week dedicated to giving back, teams in 30 office locations across the United States focused volunteer efforts on environmental and shelter-related causes aligned with the . Participants contributed 5,500 hours to over 40 organizations through the initiative, directly contributing to the well-being and development of the communities where they live and work.

From April 1st through April 4th, employee owners joined forces to provide service to local communities, living out the firm’s brand promise and activating core values of sharing, teamwork, and fun through their volunteer service activities.
In Denver, more than 75 employee owners volunteered at the in support of those experiencing homelessness and poverty. Through kitchen prep and meal service activities conducted throughout the week, the team helped prepare and serve 5,202 meals.
Environmentally focused efforts took place in Seattle and New York. Supporting ’ , the Seattle office planted almost 1,000 trees and shrubs along the Snoqualmie River. The buffer strips of native trees and shrubs provide habitat for hundreds of fish and wildlife species, control erosion, and mitigate climate change impacts by absorbing air pollution and storing carbon throughout their lifetime. The New York City office directed their efforts toward maintaining a healthy and resilient urban environment, taking care of 89 trees and moving more than six cubic yards of mulch as part of the organized by , a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting climate change through community-based zero waste initiatives.
Employee owners in other offices engaged with housing and environment focused organizations such as the nationally recognized center for social justice, , in San Francisco; the non-profit housing organization , in Kansas City, Charlotte, and Phoenix; and the , an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which the Las Vegas team partnered with for trail maintenance and campsite cleanup at Mount Charleston. Aligned with the spirit of National Volunteer Week 2025, which is observed from April 20th to April 26th, ’s Day of Giving lifted employee owners’ eyes to the hard work and dedication of regular volunteers who give their time and attention to helping others and caring for the environment.
In 2024, employee owners at dedicated hours and contributed dollars in support of various causes independently, throughout the year. Collectively, their efforts resulted in more than 12,000 hours volunteered and $1.4 million in donations. The firm’s collective effort for the 2025 Day of Giving aims to generate additional volunteer hours for specific causes and strengthen community engagement.
